(Des Moines, IA) -- Foreign exchange student from Poland Kacper Malinowski is organizing a fundraiser in Des Moines for Ukrainian refugees. The fundraiser will take place at Hoover High School for two days. There is a three-on-three basketball tournament scheduled for Friday and a concert scheduled for Saturday. There will also be a forum with Ukrainian students in the Des Moines Public Schools system. Over two million refugees from Ukraine have traveled to Malinowski's native Poland in the past two months. Governor Reynolds announced earlier this week Iowa is ready to take in refugees from Ukraine. All of the money raised within the two-day fundraiser will go to the United Nations Association of Poland, which will then distribute the proceeds to people from Ukraine who crossed the western border.
