April Living Up To Its Windy Reputation

The National Weather Service says a very high rangeland fire danger is forecast for Tuesday afternoon across much of eastern Nebraska and southwest and west central Iowa.

Very strong northwest winds are also forecast for Wednesday and Thursday.

They say peak gusts during the afternoon could reach 40 to 55 MPH both days.

A very high fire danger risk will also occur across much of the region Wednesday.

WOWT 6 News Senior Chief Meteorologist Rusty Lord says south wind gusts Tuesday will push the high into the 60s for one more day this week, but that happens with clouds, showers and quite a bit of wind.

The National Weather Service office in Omaha says April is the windiest month on average in this part of the world.
