(Des Moines, IA) -- A third city in Iowa is now being recognized by the American Public Works Association for efficiently serving its residents. Des Moines Department of Public Works is now one of only 205 city agencies in the nation to earn full accreditation by the APWA. Bettendorf and Davenport in eastern Iowa have also received APWA accreditation. This recognition is only awarded to 1% of Public Works departments in the United States. Public Works Director Jonathan Gano says this proves the department is dedicated to serving Des Moines residents in an efficient and sustainable manner. The department received the recognition at this week's city council meeting.
