Wildfire Evacuations In Southwest Nebraska Community

A southwest Nebraska community has been under an evacuation order because of a wildfire.

The order is for Edison, Nebraska in Furnas County, not far from the Kansas border.

The fire started in Gosper County near Elwood Thursday afternoon and grew up to three-miles wide.

The State Patrol say firefighters from 27 departments are working to contain the wildfire.

The State Patrol says troopers, sheriff's deputies, emergency management, and others have assisted in the evacuation effort.

Troopers want people to avoid the area from Arapahoe to Edison to Oxford in Furnas County.
