(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines City Council is considering hiring an independent third party consulting firm to review the Des Moines Police Department. If the council decides to create a Police Review Board, the firm would review the department's training, policies, and principles. The Des Moines Police Department would have the opportunity to attain national accreditation if the review finds the department in good standing. The city council will consider the move during a work session in May.
