After Storms, Rangeland Fire Danger Concern Returns

After the thunderstorms, high enough winds and dry conditions remain for the Omaha office of the National Weather Service to issue a "Red Flag Warning" from Wednesday afternoon into the evening for low relative humidity values, strong northwest winds, and very dry vegetation.

A "Fire Weather Watch" is in effect for Thursday afternoon for portions of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.

They say outdoor burning should be avoided.

WOWT 6 News Senior Chief Meteorologist Rusty Lord forecasts, with some afternoon clearing, we’ll likely get close to 50 degrees Wednesday.

He says the breezy northwest wind will still gust to near 30 mph at times today making it feel cooler.
