(Des Moines, IA) -- An abandoned home in south Des Moines is damaged by an early morning fire. The fire broke out around 5:00 a.m. near the intersection of McKinley Avenue and South Union Street. Firefighters were unable to enter the home for safety reasons, which made the fire tough to fight. The fire department tells WHO-TV it believes there were homeless people in the house just before it caught fire. However the cause hasn't been determined.
