(Des Moines, IA) -- Polk County dispatchers will soon be able to access medical data that has been shared by area residents. The RapidSOS service allows the public to create a profile with information that will be shared with 911 dispatchers and first responders in the case of an emergency. Items such as pre-existing conditions, medical notes, allergies, emergency contacts, and more will be available for dispatchers after a profile has been created. Anyone can create the free profile at emergencyprofile.org. The system also allows smartphone users to share their location with dispatchers during a 911 call. The new RapidSOS system is not only free to the public but also free for the 911 call centers. The new system will be used to cover Des Moines and the rest of Polk County along with Norwalk and Waukee.
