(Des Moines, Iowa) -- Two major bridges in Des Moines will be back open to the public this afternoon.
The 2nd Avenue and Birdland Bridges will open for commuters around 1:00pm. Part of the reinforcement for the east half of the bridge was inadvertently removed on Friday during the removal of the west half of the 2nd Avenue Bridge over Birdland Drive.
Travel will resume to the planned one-lane road in each direction while work continues on both bridges.
