DMACC to Help Certify at least 200 Class A Truckers

(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines Area Community College's Transportation Institute plans to push out at least 200 certified class A truckers in 2022 to fight the shortage of truckers in the state. DMACC's Director of Industry and Technology Megan Ellsworth says 50 students have passed the modified three week course so far. She says only one students has not passed the modified course which starts online, since it began in January. Ellsworth says more companies are offering jobs with wages as high as $90-thousand a year and DMACC's students typically have a job before they leave the course. DMACC plans on adding course for Class B licenses and school bus courses to help with shortages their too. More information on the trucker classes can be found here.
