Nebraska drought conditions improving

(Omaha, NE) -- The latest National Drought Monitor map shows a slight easing of drought conditions in Nebraska.

Parts of Southern, Central and Northeast Nebraska are moving from extreme drought to severe drought, and all categories see lessening drought conditions.

More than 98 percent of the state of Nebraska is still under some level of drought. Only Douglas, Sarpy, and the counties immediately to the south are completely drought-free.

As the chart from the U.S. Drought Monitor (below) shows, Nebraska drought conditions are significantly worse than they were one year ago.
