Sheriff’s candidate ticketed for going 107 MPH on I-80 in Omaha

(Omaha, NE) — A Douglas County candidate for Sheriff has been ticketed for going 107 miles an hour in a 65 zone. Omaha Police say they pulled George Merithew over Saturday morning on I-80 at 50th Street. Merithew is a retired Omaha Police Lieutenant. He is one of the candidates on the Republican Primary ballot for Sheriff.

Shortly after the officer reported the speeding ticket, Merithew live streamed a video from the Omaha Cinco de Mayo Parade on his Merithew for Sheriff Facebook page.
