Northeast Nebraska Officer - Involved Shooting Investigated

The Nebraska State Patrol Special Investigations Team is leading the probe of an officer-involved shooting that started with a road rage report, an officer reportedly being dragged by a fleeing car, with the officer shooting the driver, ending with a citizen running the suspect vehicle off the road.

According to investigators, two drivers involved in a road rage incident Sunday afternoon near Neligh in Northeast Nebraska pulled into a convenience store parking lot and started fighting.

When Neligh officers arrived, one approached a car, but police say the driver took off, dragging the officer, who managed to shoot the driver before he fell.

The State Patrol says a citizen saw what happened and ran the fleeing suspect car off the road.

Both the police officer and the female suspect were hurt and taken to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

At the request of the Antelope County Attorney, Antelope County Sheriff, and Neligh Police Department, the Nebraska State Patrol was brought in to investigate the incident.

NSP has been assisted on scene by the Antelope County Sheriff’s Office and Neligh Police.
