DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa farmers are making big progress getting this year's corn and soybean crops in the ground.
This week's Crop Progress Report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture says 57 percent of corn and 34 percent of soybeans are now planted.
They say hot, mostly dry weather last week let farmers spend more than five days their fields.
The Ag Department says even with last week's work, farmers are still two weeks behind last year's pace planting both crops.
