(Omaha, NE) -- The Omaha City Council approves the Mutual of Omaha Tower redevelopment agreement.

"What we're talking about is a rather complex redevelopment agreement, pertaining to the Mutual of Omaha Tower. I want to note that the city council has been working on this for several months and spent the time last week to allow public commentary," says Omaha City Councilmember Pete Festersen.

The council approved the 138-page agreement, laying out the rights to Mutual of Omaha's $600 million headquarters project.

"This project is unique and very impactful. The economic growth development and opportunity for jobs is incredible and much to talk about for years to come," says Omaha City Councilmember Juanita Johnson.

Mutual of Omaha is looking to buy several downtown blocks for the project, including where the W. Dale Clark Library currently sits.
