Michael Lang To Be Sentenced On June 27th For Murder Of Sergeant Jim Smith

(Grundy Co., IA) -- The man convicted of killing an Iowa State Patrol sergeant during a standoff will be sentenced next month. Michael Lang will be sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder, attempted murder, and assault on a peace officer on June 27th. Lang was convicted earlier this month of killing Sergeant Jim Smith during a standoff in Grundy Center last year.
