New Omaha bike lane sees 140-percent increase in bicyclists

(Omaha, NE) — There's been a 140-percent increase in bicycle traffic on the protected bike lane that runs from Midtown to the Old Market.

A study of the corridor by Walk Nebraska and Metro Smart Cities reports bicyclists have moved off other streets and sidewalks to use the dedicated bike lane, instead.

The two-mile long bike corridor runs on Harney Street. It's a pilot program to test the new style of bike lane that separates bicycle traffic from cars and trucks with a dedicated bike lane.
