(Des Moines, IA) -- The Greater Des Moines Partnership is now sifting through community feedback on a major downtown project. The city is debuting its new concept plans for the Future Forward action plan for downtown Des Moines.
The display was up in the skywalk Wednesday at the south entrance of the Wellmark YMCA building. Anyone walking through the skywalk or working downtown was able to place feedback for the project on Post-It notes at the site.
The plan includes a renovation to the downtown skywalk system and a future development district around Principal Park. Members of a committee overseeing the project include Des Moines Mayor Frank Cownie and Polk County Board of Supervisors Chair Angela Connolly.
The downtown Des Moines skywalk system is 4.2 miles in length and connects 55 buildings and 12 parking ramps. The Skyway system is open 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily, including weekends.
