Today is Last Day for Illinois Residents to Apply for Utility Assistance

(Illinois) -- Today is the last day for eligible Illinois residents to sign up for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

The program has $386 million available to support residents needing help with utility bills, through a one-time $200 payment directly to the utility company. Applications can only be completed in person at the local Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity administration agency.
