The Omaha Police Traffic Unit wants drivers to be aware of motorcycle officers taking part in police escort training today (Thu), clearing intersections and briefly shutting down stretches of roadway.
"It's something kind of unique that not alot of people get to see; so we'll be travelling around Omaha, and bring your patience; we'll get through the intersections as quickly as possible and safely as possible," says Omaha Police Lt. Neal Bonacci, interviewed by KFAB Radio News.
He says officers from other agencies are also taking part in the training, including Lincoln, Council Bluffs, Bellevue, La Vista, and the Douglas County Sheriff's office.
Bonacci says Omaha Police has one of the larger "motor units" in the region, and they are increasingly busy with dignitaries coming and going from Eppley Field and Offutt Air Force Base, including the teams in the College World Series.
