Bellevue To Fill City Council Seat

The passing of Bellevue City Councilman Bob Stinson late last month has created a vacancy on the council and a vacancy on the ballot.

Bob Stinson was first elected to the Bellevue City Council in November 2018 to Ward 2 and was running unopposed for re-election in the upcoming November General Election.

Mayor Rusty Hike, with the consent of the majority of the remaining City Council members, will name a person to the council seat.

This appointment will continue until a successor is elected and qualified.

This vacancy, pursuant to statute, must be filled within 45 days.

Anyone interested in being considered for this vacancy should submit a resume and any other information to the Mayor at 1500 Wall Street in Bellevue, Nebraska no later than June 14th, 2022.

The Sarpy County Election Commissioner has been notified of Councilman Stinson’s passing, pursuant to statute, his name will be removed from the ballot for the upcoming General Election.

Candidates wishing to run for Ward 2 can either do so by write - in affidavit or by petition.

The City would encourage any person interested in either option to contact the Sarpy County Election Commissioner for further information and seek independent advice on the process.
