School Board Approves O-P-S Stipend Plan

A plan to provide Omaha Public School district teachers a stipend is one step closer to reality.

The O-P-S board votes to approve the plan, which will use federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds in an effort to retain teachers and recruit professional educators to the district at a time of high staff turnover.

The two-year proposal calls for paying full-time employees an extra 45-hundred-dollars per year and part-time employees half that amount.

The plan goes to the teachers union and requires final approval from the state.
