Traffic Fatality Numbers Up In Nebraska

In the middle of the American Summer Vacation Travel Season, some troubling statistics; the number of traffic deaths in Nebraska is on the rise.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation says 116 people have died in crashes statewide so far this year, which is an increase of nearly 25 percent over last year.

NDOT highway safety employees and law enforcement say reckless driving and a lack of seat belt usage have been factors in the higher number of deadly crashes.
