(Brooklyn, N.Y.) -- With the fourth pick of the 2022 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings select Keegan Murray from The University of Iowa.

The Cedar Rapids native breaks the record for the highest drafted Iowa Basketball player of all time. Fred Brown was the previous record holder. He was drafted 6th overall in 1971.

"I grew up 20 minutes from The University of Iowa," says Keegan Murray in a release from The University of Iowa Athletics. "This is a dream come true."

In his sophomore season, Murray led Iowa to the Big Ten Tournament Championship. He totaled 822 points, 303 rebounds, 68 blocks, 66 3-point field goals, 52 assists, and 45 steals last season, marking the second player in Division 1 history to accumulate 800 points, 60 blocks, and 60 3-pointers in a single season. Texas' Kevin Durant was the first in 2007, according to The University of Iowa Athletics.

Murray is the third Hawkeye to be drafted in the last two seasons, and the fifth Hawkeye to be drafted under Head Coach Fran McCaffery.
