(Des Moines, IA) -- Kids from around the Midwest will compete in their own type of Iron man this Saturday at the RipRoar triathlon in Des Moines. Kids age 5 to 15-years-old will swim, bike, and run at Grays Lake starting at 8:00 A.M. RipRoar Director Michael Zimmerman says six to eight year old's will swim 50 meters, bike 2 miles and run half-a-mile. Triathletes age nine to eleven will swim 100 meters, bike 4 miles, and run 1 mile. 12 to 15 year old's swim 200 meters, bike 6 miles, and run 2 miles. People are encouraged to cheer kids on. RipRoar will have more races this summer in West Des Moines, Johnston, Cedar Rapids, and Omaha. Zimmerman says parents can still register their kid for Saturday's event.
