Special Election Day For Some Eastern Nebraskans

Some Nebraska voters, including some in the Omaha Metro, go to the polls today to elect a new member of Congress.

The special election is in the Nebraska First Congressional District.

Democratic candidate Patty Pansing Brooks and Republican Mike Flood are competing to replace Jeff Fortenberry, who resigned from the seat after he was convicted earlier this year of lying to the FBI during an investigation into an illegal campaign donation from a foreign source.

Polling places will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the district, which generally rings the Omaha Metro area and includes a part of Sarpy County.

It does not include Douglas County;

Ironically, Fortenberry is also being sentenced later today in federal court in Los Angeles.
