(South Sioux City, NE) -- An investigation's underway after the Nebraska State Patrol says a police officer shot a man in South Sioux City. The State Patrol says South Sioux City police were called to an apartment on an overdose Thursday night but they left the building after the suspect showed a gun. The State Patrol says the suspect later shot at the officers, leading one of them to shoot back and hit him. Sixty-one-year-old Richard Germek was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and none of the officers were hurt. Germek will face charges.
