Omahan Sentenced In Attempted Sex Trafficking Case

The Nebraska U.S. Attorney's office says Chief U.S. District Judge Robert Rossiter sentences 34 - year old Hammaduzzaman Syed of Omaha to 120 months in federal prison for attempted sex trafficking of a minor.

After his release, Syed will serve a 5-year term of supervised release.

A jury found Syed guilty in March following a day - and - a - half jury trial.

The case came out of an undercover operation by the Douglas County Sheriff's office as part of the FBI’s Child Enticement and Human Trafficking Task Force and was brought as part of "Project Safe Childhood," a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the U.S. Department of Justice.
