(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines Area Community College has named a new men's basketball coach.

"We are very excited to welcome Blake and his family to the DMACC community," says DMACC Athletics Director B.J. McGinn. "After a very extensive search, Blake rose to the top and we can’t wait for him to get started."

Blake Sandquist will take over from Brett Putz, who is joining the Indiana State coaching staff. Sandquist comes to DMACC after spending 11 years as the Associate Head Coach for William Penn University's men's basketball program.

"It’s a great honor and privilege to be named the head men’s basketball coach at DMACC," says Sandquist. "I want to personally thank Athletics Director B.J. McGinn and the DMACC administration for this opportunity. Our family is excited to be Bears."
