Originally called to the area of 40th and Camden Avenue on a report of a tree on fire, Omaha firefighters instead found a single family, vacant, unsecured home had heavy fire showing at the rear and one side of the place.
Investigators say the fire quickly spread into the roof area, and fire crews played it safe, fighting the fire from outside in a defensive mode.
They controlled the late Wednesday night fire in about 45 minutes, and there are no injuries reported.
