(Rock Island, IA) -- Some Rock Island community members are aiming to save the old Rock Island County Courthouse at the polls this November.
A group of residents called the Referendum Committee is gathering signatures to put the decision whether or not the building is demolished on the ballot.
The county board originally voted for the demolition of the courthouse in 2018 which was delayed multiple times.
The petitioners have until August 8 to collect more than four thousand signatures.
