A Waukee woman was arrested Saturday night after allegedly assaulting her mother in the home.
35-year-old Rikki Mae Southard of 1333 S.E. University Ave in Waukee, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and interference with official acts.
The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Southard allegedly “punched her in the back with a closed fist and then attempted to place her in the bath tub, but she was able to break free.”
Southard allegedly then “threw the victim on the bed, and this was when the victim stated she had trouble breathing.
Southard was told by officers to remain seated on a chair, however, she refused to comply and attempted to retrieve something from her room.
When the officers directed Southard “to put her hands behind her back,” Southard “refused to comply” and “began resisting” and was at length “assisted to the ground and handcuffed after a short fight with officers,” according to court records.
Southard was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
