In Douglas County, early voting ballot applications for the 2022 Nebraska Gubernatorial General Election are now in the mail.
Recipients are registered voters who signed up to be on the Douglas County Early Voting Request List.
For this Fall's General, the postcard-size mail pieces are printed on white cardstock with some text highlighted in green on each side.
Usually green in color, supply chain issues limited the availability of cardstock in all colors but white.
The Election Commission says the format and function of the cards will be the same as previous elections; only the color is different.
Voters must complete and sign the application portion of the mailing and return it to the Election Commission to receive a ballot by mail.
Ballots will not be automatically sent to voters who receive the postcard mailing or who requested a by-mail ballot for previous elections.
Applications may be returned via official ballot drop box, postal mail, email, or fax.
All Douglas County Election Commission ballot drop boxes are open; a list of locations is available on www.votedouglascounty.com under Shortcuts - Vote Early By Mail (look for the envelope icon).
Drop boxes are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are accessible even when the Commission is closed.
No postage is needed on items deposited into Election Commission drop boxes.
Election materials should only be deposited into official ballot drop boxes to ensure they are received by the County Election Commission.
Any voter who does not receive an early voting application postcard may request a by-mail ballot by submitting a request in writing, accompanied by their signature.
At the same time they request their ballot, voters may sign up to be included on the Early Voting Request List for future elections.
Details may also be found on www.votedouglascounty.com or by calling (402) 444-VOTE (8683).
Ballot requests may not be accepted via telephone.
The first day ballots will be mailed is Monday, October 3rd, 2022.
The deadline to submit a request for an early voting ballot to be mailed for the General Election is Friday, October 28th, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.
