Crews Rescue Family Stranded On Northeast Iowa Sandbar

(Buchanan County, IA) -- The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office is sharing details of a weekend rescue from a Wapsipinicon River sandbar. The Sheriff's Office says a family called 9-1-1 before 8 o'clock Sunday morning, and said due to recent rainfall, their tents had collapsed and some of their kayaks and tubes had floated down river, leaving them stranded on the sandbar north of Quasqueton.

Deputies and firefighters launched a boat from the Iron Bridge Access in the 27-hundred block of Nolen Avenue and rescued five individuals and three dogs. There were no injuries.
