Help Wanted Sign At Douglas County 9-1-1

Douglas County 9-1-1 Communications, serving numerous law enforcement and fire and rescue agencies in the Omaha Metro, is hiring operators and dispatchers.

County 9-1-1 Communications Director Kathy Allen says they are looking for about three 9-1-1 operators and six dispatchers.

Operators pay starts at 26.50 per hour and can eventually go up to 34.89 per hour, while dispatchers begin at 28.89 per hour and go up to 38.17.

"I have a great team of professional, dedicated employees," Allen tells KFAB Radio News. "We're kind of short-staffed because of retirements, and the pandemic kind of shut us down a bit."

Allen says despite the staffing need, they have been able to meet the goal of answering all incoming 9-1-1 calls 90 percent of the time within ten seconds.

Allen says you can check out the postings at the Douglas County website under Human Resources.
