Person of Interest Identified in Saturday Morning Des Moines Homicide

(Des Moines, IA) -- Polk County Sheriff's Detectives are identifying a person of interest in a Saturday morning homicide.

Detectives say a material witness warrant has been issued for 38 year-old Courtney Shane Smith. He's being considered a person of interest in the shooting death of Scott Crane. Polk County Sheriff's Deputies say they received two 9-1-1 calls around 12:30 Saturday morning, and when officers responded, they found Crane dead at the scene.

Investigators say Smith is 6 feet tall, about 170 pounds, with dark hair or mostly bald, and tattoos on both forearms. Detectives say Smith may be armed and dangerous, and says if you see him, do not approach him, but instead, call the Polk County Sheriffs office at (515)286-3333 or contact your local law enforcement agency.
