The University of Nebraska at Omaha holds its August Commencement exercises today. (Friday)
The University says approximately 569 students have wrapped up their degree work and about 368 will take part in the ceremony.
Degrees will be conferred to graduates in a single ceremony to be held at 2 P.M. today, Friday, August 12th, at UNO’s Baxter Arena.
Graduates from all six of UNO’s colleges, graduate programs, and UNL’s College of Engineering will be honored.
UNO Chancellor Joanne Li, Ph.D., CFA, will preside, and University of Nebraska System President Ted Carter will be among the day’s guest speakers.
Recognitions awarded include the "Chancellor’s Medal" and the "Order of the Tower."
The "Order of the Tower" will be awarded to philanthropists Howard and Rhonda Hawks.
This award recognizes individuals whose service and/or financial support have advanced UNO’s mission.
The "Chancellor’s Medal" will be awarded to Julie Dierberger, Ph.D., the Paul Sather Distinguished Director of UNO’s Service Learning Academy.
This award recognizes faculty or staff, who have provided extraordinary service to the university.
