(Des Moines, IA) -- Several Iowa counties are looking for poll workers for the upcoming general election.

Today, August 16th is Help America Vote Day.

It was established as a national awareness day to encourage people to help poll worker recruitment across the country, and Iowa counties are constantly in need of community members to help with the polls.

Iowa's Secretary of State says poll workers are paid for training, and paid for work on Election Day.

Iowa’s general election is Tuesday, November 8th.
