Omaha Fire Investigators look for the cause of a fire that produced a large amount of smoke that was visible for miles.
Firefighters went to the fire in a one-and-a-half story vacant structure at 20th and Ohio Streets in the noon hour Monday and discovered it was two residential structures connected by a common hallway.
They say firefighters were hindered by a large amount of tree overgrowth, which caused access to the structure and the fire to be difficult.
Power district crews were needed to secure a downed power line.
The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes;
The fire department says a firefighter was taken to the hospital for further medical evaluation from heat exhaustion.
