Nebraska Democratic Party Changes Marquee Event Name

The Nebraska Democratic Party announces it's renaming its annual fundraising event in honor of former Nebraska Senators and Governors Bob Kerrey and Ben Nelson.

Each year the party highlights elected officeholders, candidates, party leaders, and volunteers.

For years, the annual event was called the "Morrison - Exon" fundraiser in honor of party legends Governor Frank Morrison and Governor and U.S. Senator Jim Exon.

The party’s State Executive Committee votes to make the name change, and the event on Oct. 14th will be the inaugural "Kerrey - Nelson" fundraiser.

Bob Kerrey was Nebraska Governor from 1983 to 1987, a U.S. Senator from 1989 to 2001, and was a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1992.

Nelson was Governor from 1991 to 1999 and a U.S. Senator from 2001 to 2013.
