Officers Involved In Deadly Cedar Rapids Shooting Identified

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- The two police officers involved in a recent deadly shooting in Cedar Rapids are identified. The Iowa Department of Public Safety says Investigator Christopher Christy; fourteen-years of law enforcement experience, and Sergeant Bryson Garringer; twelve-years of law enforcement experience, shot and killed 22-year-old William Rich of Cedar Rapids at the Inn Circle at 5560 6th Street Southwest on August 30th. Public Safety says Rich pulled a weapon on the officers, which led to them shooting and killing him. Both officers have been interviewed by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and remain on administrative leave.
