Omaha Traffic Study Includes Signal Review

A traffic signal review is underway in the city of Omaha.

The Omaha Public Works Department is in a ten to twelve year plan to modernize the city's traffic signal system.

Traffic signals at 72nd and Nebraska Plaza, 56th and Whitmore, 60th and Spaulding, 87th and Sorensen Parkway, Florence Boulevard and Sprague, and Ida Street and Irvington Road are being studied for possible shut down and removal.

The city says Federal Highway Administration data show that removing unneeded traffic signals can reduce crashes and wait times.
