(Polk County, IA) -- The Trestle to Trestle Trail bridge between Des Moines and Johnston has reopened after a major repair effort. The trail section has been closed since spring of 2019 when the bridge collapsed because of ice jams and high water.
The new $2 million dollar bridge, called Beaver Crossing, was the result of a collaboration between Polk County Conservation, the cities of Johnston and Des Moines, Polk County Board of Supervisors, the Metropolitan Planning Organization, and the State of Iowa.
