(Des Moines, IA) -- Harvest season is beginning in Iowa, and widespread rain across the state last week limited how much fieldwork farmers could do.

The USDA says row crop harvest, preparing equipment and bins, and other fieldwork has begun.

The rain resulted in only five point eight suitable days for fieldwork last week.

The Iowa State Patrol is warning drivers of increased farm equipment on busier roads for the next couple of months.

Drivers will likely see equipment traveling between fields, farms, and drop-off locations.
