(Omaha, NE) -- Two California men are arrested following a drug bust in Omaha.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says a K-9 Unit sergeant stopped a red 1998 Infiniti for speeding in the area of eastbound I-80 and 72nd St. Investigators say during the stop, the sergeant observed numerous indicators of drug trafficking in the vehicle and on the occupants. The sheriff's office says due to a language barrier, a Spanish speaking OPD Officer was called to assist with the stop. During the interview, DCSO says probable cause was established to search the vehicle.

The sheriff's office says roughly 90 pounds of marijuana was found in the trunk during a search. Both men in the car, Tadeo Velasquez Torres and Juan Alvarez Lpoez, were arrested for possession with the intent to deliver marijuana. The street value of the drugs is approximately $290,000.

Douglas County Sheriff Tom Wheeler states, "There will be some in our community that will criticize us for arresting these individuals for possession with the intent to deliver marijuana. The amount of marijuana is not for personal use, it's a dealer amount. With dealer amounts of drugs typically comes certain violent crimes and this is exactly what our community doesn't need now or in the future. So long as these drugs are illegal in the State of Nebraska the DCSO will vigorously enforce the law".
