Alcohol Sales During Husker Hoops On Regents' Agenda

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents at next week's meeting in Kearney will consider selling alcohol during Nebraska basketball games starting this season.

The Board will debate whether to make an exemption from the long-standing prohibition of alcohol sales at sporting events.

The consideration is only for Pinnacle Bank Arena and would only apply to Husker men's and women's basketball games.

Regents in February amended their policy on alcohol on university property to allow the president and chancellors to authorize alcohol sales at athletic events on their campuses, subject to Regents' approval.

The consideration comes after the board allowed alcohol sales at the venue earlier this year for the Big Ten Conference Wrestling Championships.

The NU Board of Regents will meet Friday, Sept. 30th at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the Ponderosa Room on the second floor of the Nebraskan Student Union, 1013 W. 27th St.
