Burn ban issued for Douglas County

(Omaha, NE) -- A burn ban is declared for Douglas County.

The Douglas County fire chiefs say the county-wide ban is in effect as of Wednesday and will remain in place until further notice. The ban primarily applies to permit-required open burns such as brush piles, but the chiefs also urge that people be mindful of their cigarettes as the dry, windy conditions can easily spark fires from cigarette embers.
