Omaha Bike Lane Gets Reprieve

Omaha's "Market to Midtown" protected bikeway is staying put for now.

The bikeway pilot program ends Friday, but Mayor Jean Stothert says a private donor has agreed to fund and maintain the current lane.

The funds will also allow the city to continue to study alternate routes in the so-called urban core and recommend designs for a permanent protected bike lane.

The bike lane will stay in service until construction on the streetcar begins.
