Nebraska Republican U.S. Senator Ben Sasse is in Gainesville today making the rounds at the University of Florida where he is the top choice to eventually be named university President.
The meetings are standard at colleges and universities when a candidate to lead a institution emerges, and Sasse indicates if the process goes well, he will resign his Senate seat by the end of the year.
Long-rumored to eventually make a move to higher education administration, the university announced Sasse is their choice last week.
His successor in the Senate will be named by the Nebraska Governor.
