(Des Moines, IA) -- Early voting begins today in Iowa.
"You can come into your County Auditor's office. You'll need to fill out an absentee ballot request form and show identification." Says Polk County Auditor Jamie Fitzgerald. An Iowa driver's license or state ID is required to vote.
Changes in Iowa Election law limit early voting to 20 days before Election Day
Where to vote early:
Ames
Early voting is open daily at the Story County Auditor's office at 900 Sixth St., Nevada. Ames early voting: Friday October 21 at Memorial Union; at the Ames Public Library October 29, at Schenan October 31, and Ames Public Library November 5.
Cedar Rapids
In the Cedar Rapids area, voters can come to the election office for Linn County located at 1st Street Southwest and 8th Avenue Southwest in downtown Cedar Rapids. There are also seven satellite locations in Linn county.
Council Bluffs
Vote early at the Pottawattamie County Auditor Elections office at 227 S 6th St, Council Bluffs
Davenport
In Scott County, the election office is at West 4th and Gaines streets in downtown Davenport. There are also five satellite locations in the county.
Des Moines
The election office for Polk County is on 2nd Avenue in downtown Des Moines. There's also a satellite office at Drake University.
Iowa City
In Johnson County, the Auditor and Election office is at 913 South Dubuque, and drive thru voting is available across the street at the Human Health Services building.
Another part of the election law is also changed in Iowa.
"If you want an absentee ballot mailed to you, you have to have that request in your auditor's office no later than Monday October 24 at 5pm." Fitzgerald says.
